Scleral Lenses

The history of "functional" contact lenses began in the late 1880's when separately and independently Eugene Kalt (1988) and Adolf Gaston Eugen Fick (1988) first described their use of blown glass bowls followed by August Muller (1889) who described grinding of glass bowls in an attempt to correct his 14 diopters of myopia.
